Las Vegas Guide To Senior Pictures

Where Can I Get Senior Pictures Taken In Las Vegas?

One of the most fantastic elements of Las Vegas is the endless amount of stunning backdrops for pictures. Las Vegas high school seniors are fortunate because they get to have some epic senior pictures they can cherish forever.

There are backdrops and landscapes for every style and attitude. Whether you are artsy, edgy, or nature-loving, there is a place for you! Keep in mind that some of the more popular locations do come with a fee to shoot there. But there are plenty of sites to choose from!

For artsy and edgy photos, we love shooting in the Arts District Downtown. This location for senior pictures in Las Vegas has countless unique shops and walls of graffiti that make some of the most incredible backdrops.

The Nelson Ghost Town is also excellent. It does have a fee of $20 for the first two hours and then $10 extra for each additional hour. With all of the options and backdrops available at this location, the fee is well worth it for the images you will capture!

For outdoorsy nature lovers, desert landscapes, cacti, and flowers are abundant in the surrounding area of Las Vegas. Mt Charleston is the place to go for beautiful forestry pictures!

What Time of Day Is Best For Senior Pictures?

The specific time of day for an outdoor session varies throughout the year. However, the basic rule of thumb is to shoot just after sunrise or right before sunset. These times tend to provide the perfect lighting and are actually affectionately known as “the golden hour” among photographers. The golden hour provides the soft lighting that everyone craves. This lighting has a magic effect that makes everyone look and feel great.

The Worst Time of Day For Senior Pictures

If there is the best time of day, then there has to be the worst time of day, right? Typically “high noon” is the time to stay far away from the camera. “Why” do you ask? This is the harshest light and will accentuate every flaw and maybe even create some! This time of day is terrible for shadows and has the tendency to develop dark circles under the eyes. It will also expose any blemishes and fly-away hairs you may have. If this time is offered to you for an outdoor appointment, avoid it! And honestly, probably avoid that photographer because no professional photographer would be willing to photograph senior portraits during high noon.

Is It Too Late To Take Senior Pictures?

Have you been busy with all of the school year activities and spaced getting the senior photo shoot on the calendar? Don’t panic! While some folks schedule their session two years in advance, there are also those who have already walked across the stage and received their diploma before they sit for their session. Remember, the whole point of senior photos is to capture this moment in time and stage in life before they set off into the world. It’s fun to look back on years from now and see how much has changed!

If you are ahead of the game and are wondering when senior pictures are usually taken, we have your answer. It is most common to schedule senior photo sessions sometime between the spring and summer before the fall of your senior year of high school. This will give plenty of time to have the images edited and printed so they are ready to pass out to friends and family. If your child is already in their senior year, it’s ok! They can still get amazing senior pictures in Las Vegas anytime within the next year.
