Las Vegas senior picture

One of our most common questions regarding senior pictures in Las Vegas is what you should wear for your session. Bartholomew Photography is here to help! We understand that deciding what to wear for your photo shoot can be a little stressful. You want something that encompasses your personality and style and photographs well at the same time. In this simple guide, we have compiled some of our most popular options and answers to any style questions you have.

What Color Should You Wear For Senior Pictures?

Neutrals and solid colors such as blues, greens, grays, and whites photograph beautifully. Solids are an excellent choice because loud prints can be distracting and take the focus off of you. You can still have some fun with layers. Think of a layered cardigan or open button-down over a white tee. If you have an item you love that happens to be a print, just make sure it isn’t too loud or distracting. Plaid or soft florals have the potential to be lovely.

We do recommend staying away from reds and neon colors. You don’t want to end up looking ready for a holiday card or stick out like a sore thumb in bright, hard-to-blend colors. These colors can also have a draining effect up against your skin that even the best lighting can’t fix.

Do You Have To Dress Nice For Senior Pictures?

Dressing in sweatpants for Las Vegas senior pictures is not recommended. Let’s assume you are questioning formal attire versus casual. You do not have to dress extremely formal unless you want to. The goal is to look like yourself and let your personality shine through! When you look back on your senior portraits, you will want to remember who you were before you set off on your own.

If dressing in formal attire is your thing then go for it! A formal look has the potential to make your senior photos truly unique and special.

Check with your school yearbook to see what attire they like for the senior portrait section. Many schools want a “formal” look to showcase senior portraits. This is another area your dressy look will come into play.

How Many Outfits Do I Need For Senior Pictures?

For your senior photo shoot, you don’t have to worry about choosing just one outfit to shine in. Instead, you get to have at least three! Each outfit can showcase a specific part of your personality, as well as one to make mom and grandma happy. Just know that, depending on the photographer, the more outfits you bring, the higher the cost. Check out this article learn more about what goes into the cost of senior pictures.

Choosing Your First Outfit

Your first outfit can be more “dressy.” Think about the school yearbook. A dress shirt and tie, a blazer over a dress shirt, or even a full-blown suit would be appropriate for guys. Ladies, solid colors are suitable with a dress shirt, nice blouse, or dress with a fitted bodice looks best for the formal yearbook pose. The formal outfit choice is usually the parental favorite, so asking your parents may be helpful (and make them feel good as well)!

Second Outfit Choice

For your second outfit choice, choose your favorite outfit that embodies your personality and personal style. Look for something neutral/solid that you feel comfortable in and will feel like you. Choose complimentary accessories, shoes, or “props” to accentuate your outfit and give it that completed look. You want to recognize yourself and feel like you!

The Final Outfit

Your third outfit gets to showcase your favorite activity. Are you an artist? A musician? Or an athlete? If so, bring your uniform and sports equipment. Artists with a small compilation of their favorite works in the background make for beautiful photos. And musicians, bring your instruments and music with you! Whatever you are passionate about, bring with you for this final outfit choice so you can look back and remember all of the good memories associated with this activity.
